Introducing the cheshmeh Gilas

cherry spring

This historical spring, one of the tourist attractions of Razavi Khorasan province, is more than a thousand meters above sea level and has a depth of between four and five meters. Its water yield is estimated at 230 liters per second, and experts have classified it in the group of karst (limestone) springs. This spring has created ponds and small lakes around it. Also, the area around it is a popular and lovely place for nature lovers and tourists throughout the year, especially in the summer, due to its cool, clean, and refreshing climate.

The history of this spring

It seems that Amir Ali Shirnavai tried to make the water of this spring flow to the city of Mashhad during the Timurid period, but he did not succeed, and his action remained half-finished. Finally, following this initiative and during the rule of the Safavids, Shah Abbas Safavi managed to bring the water of this spring to Mashhad in the years 1016 to 1023 A.H. Of course, the water of this spring does not flow in Mashhad today.
